Rapid-Access Chest Pain Clinic
A dedicated My Heart Cardiology service for patients who present to their GP with chest pain, with the goal of providing either a specialist consultation or stress test within 3 - 5 business days.
Important safety note
Patients with ongoing severe chest pain, syncope, haemodynamic instability, acute ECG changes, or other features concerning for an acute coronary syndrome should be directed to emergency care immediately.
Our goal is consultation or stress testing within 3 - 5 business days for suitable referrals.
A streamlined referral pathway to help primary care arrange prompt cardiology review.
Patients may be booked for consultation, stress testing, or both depending on the presentation.
A dedicated pathway for prompt chest pain assessment
Patients with chest pain often need early specialist input, but many are suitable for rapid outpatient evaluation rather than emergency presentation. Our Chest Pain Clinic is designed to give GPs timely access to specialist review and functional testing when clinically appropriate.
We aim to clarify the likelihood of a cardiac cause early and determine the most appropriate investigation or next management step.
Efficient testing pathway
Where suitable, patients may proceed directly to stress testing or be seen first in consultation based on the referral details and clinical context.
Referring doctors receive a timely summary outlining the assessment, investigations performed, and the recommended ongoing plan.
How the Chest Pain Clinic works
A simple, practical pathway designed to support general practice and prioritise timely care.
The GP referral outlines the symptom history, relevant cardiovascular risk factors, current concerns, and any available investigations.
Our team reviews the referral promptly to determine whether the patient is best booked for consultation, stress testing, or a combined pathway.
Assessment within 3 - 5 business days
For appropriate referrals, our goal is to provide either specialist review or stress testing within 5 business days.
Plan communicated clearly
The referring GP receives a clear outcome with results, risk assessment, recommendations, and advice regarding next steps.
