

Dr Yi Chen is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon located in Melbourne. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Melbourne and his Cardiothoracic Surgery training at The Alfred Hospital, Monash Health and Austin Hospital. Following this, he undertook a two-year Fellowship in Robotic Cardiothoracic Surgery and Structural Heart Intervention at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been a Consultant Surgeon at Monash Health/Victorian Heart Hospital since 2019.
While in training Dr Chen completed a PhD at Monash University and has been recognised for his research with a number of prestigious scholarships and awards including RACS Surgeon Scientist and NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships. Dr Chen has also contributed to education in clinical teaching roles for doctors and medical students at Monash University and University of Washington. He has a wide interest in both cardiac and thoracic surgery including reparative surgery for aortic and mitral valve disease and minimally invasive procedures using the Da Vinci Robotic platform.
